Michael E. Farrell, Jr.

chris-biographyMike is the founder of GFRM and humbly serves as President. This is currently a non-paying position. Mike has worked for the Geauga County Engineer’s Office since September of 2005, a job that allows him to serve the residents of Geauga County. Mike is a 2016 graduate of Leadership Geauga and took IT IS 1005 computer class at Lakeland Community College. He is currently pursuing Business Management Certification, Enhancing Interpersonal Communication Skills, Effective Decision Making and Motivating Employees at Kent State.

Mike was the owner of Mike’s Barber Shop for over 7 years, a herd manager for Lake Metro Parks and is in his second term as a Claridon Township Trustee. In 2010, Mike started a non-profit organization called Claridon Community Helps. It enables neighbors to help neighbors with food and clothing, as well as helps seniors with small projects and other areas of need. Dinners are held every third Tuesday at The First Congregational Church in Claridon on a donation basis and extra funds go toward helping with community needs. In October of 2014 Mike started Geauga Faith Rescue Mission with the intention of creating a private-sector funded and faith-based Rescue Mission in Geauga County to proactively address the needs of the growing homeless community. GFRM’s desire is to have positive outcomes using no government money and to provide a foundation and support for those in need, a means to get them back on their feet. It is very hard for a person in this situation to get past some basic hurdles without help, but once the proper foundation is set, the possibilities for a person are unlimited. Mike will be working with all of our Geauga County agencies as well as the Geauga Growth Partnership, Habitat for Humanity, and other local missions.

Mike is an active member of Orwell Bible Church. Mike loves Dawn, his wife of 25 years, and loves his family, especially Rosie and Zoe, his two dogs who think they are almost human. (Nobody told them they were not.) Outside of church and family, Mike loves golfing, hunting, and being a part of the farm in Claridon Township where there are deep family roots. Mike loves serving people and living the American Dream, and he wants to see others achieve their goals as well.

Nathan Long

nathan-long-biography91416Nathan Long is a missionary, dedicated husband, and father of four children. “Since being asked to join GFRM as a Board Member, I have developed a deep passion for rescue mission work. I have had the opportunity to interview clients from various rescue missions and hear their life-changing stories. It is amazing to see God using rescue missions to save lives through the gospel and to see change take place through loving care and support. I am so thankful Mike Farrell has followed God’s calling and inspired others to help start a rescue mission in Geauga County.”

Nathan has been an ordained minister since 2002. He served as the senior pastor of Grace Missionary Baptist Church of Hazard, KY, and Grace Baptist Church of Corbin, KY. In 2013, Nathan felt lead of the Lord to become a missionary to emotionally abandoned or neglected children. He relocated his family to Northern Ohio in order to work with New Testament Baptist Church of Claridon, Ohio, as the director of Children of Our Lord Ministries. During his years of ministry, Nathan has simultaneously held various non-ministry related occupations. These occupations included manufacturing, construction, communications tower technician, residential electrician, and home remodeling.

Nathan has been married to his wife, Mishal, since 2004 and has four children. Nathan believes that children are a blessing from God and should be cherished. Nathan loves to travel and see new places and meet new people. He often travels with his family and visits churches around the United States to share his burden for neglected children and to encourage churches to become involved in helping children from hard places.

Above all Nathan is a dedicated follower of his Lord Jesus Christ. He desires for all to hear the gospel and to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. Having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ has been the greatest source of comfort and purpose in his life.

Christopher A. Pierce

chris-biographyChris considers it a great honor to serve as Geauga Faith Rescue Mission’s treasurer. This is currently a non-paid position. He resides with his wife and 4 children in the great county of Geauga.
Since he was a child he has always had a fascination with numbers and how they are applied to our daily lives to give us order, beauty, productivity and direction. He would sit for hours just writing numbers on paper and trying to find patterns and applicability. Growing up in similar circumstances as those GFRM intends to help, he has experienced firsthand, from a dependent’s perspective, the myriad of difficulties and challenges that are very real in the lives of our homeless community today.

Chris went into construction as early as 14 years of age and understands the hard work, dedication and time it takes to turn one’s situation around. Over the next 24 years, he started his own construction company with a handful of employees; owns a small bookkeeping and administrative services business; is a licensed life, accident and health insurance agent in Ohio and Missouri; holds FINRA Series 6 license; is experienced in adjusting insurance claims; and is currently president and treasurer of a state-wide religious not-for-profit organization.

Chris has volunteered for many community and church sponsored events over the years and loves to help people achieve their goals. Chris’ desire is to follow the Lord in everything, and do all things as if doing them for Christ. Chris maintains that it was God’s word that gave him hope and strength, and his mom’s training that taught him the rewards of hard work. It is God’s word that sustains him in all that he does. Chris believes with all his heart it is this power that will change lives forever.

Outside of work he enjoys God’s creation through canoeing/kayaking, bicycling and camping. Chris also believes very strongly that your marriage and children are your first priority, your first ministry, so he thoroughly enjoys being the best husband and father he can be. He also still loves to roll up his sleeves and get involved in various construction projects.
